Slotting Together at 100% Design – London
Posted on August 10th, 2009 1 commentModern life requires us to be flexible. We have to be able to adapt to change and slot into our different roles at work, home and within society. An ever diversifying societal dynamic means that the ability and willingness to ‘come together’ in a variety of different but successful collaborations is key to building strong communities.
These qualities can also be seen in new product designs that focus on ‘slotting together’.

A number of designers exhibiting at next months 100% Design at Earls Court, London are showing fantastic new products which slot together in some form:
-
Kirsty Whyte’s striking ‘Hound’ occasional tables slot together and allow individuality to be expressed via different layouts and colour combinations. They are a brilliant use of the classic houndstooth pattern…simple but ingenious!

This modular bookshelf system by Barbara Gollackner and Michael Walder is extendible to any number and creates an unusual graphic pattern either against or away from a wall.

- The striking ‘i b pop’ chair by Blue Marmalade is made from a single piece of plastic that slots together beautifully. Simple and stunning.
-

-
Bulgarian designer Nikolay Mihaylov has created the ‘Cradle of Light’, an intriguing modular light system that also provides a pleasing decorative feature.

-
And finally…being big fans of a nice mug of tea we just had to mention the ‘Bunch of Mugs’ design by Jamily Design Studio that enables you to carry 3 mugs of tea in one hand.

100% Design runs from 24th – 27th September. It is one of our favourite shows to visit in the UK. It provides a brilliant platform for designers to showcase their new product collections and offers visitors a truly inspiring exhibition experience.
